Climate Justice is a vision to dissolve and alleviate the unequal burdens created by climate change. As a form of environmental justice, climate justice is the fair treatment of all people and freedom from discrimination with the creation of policies and projects that address climate change and the systems that create climate change and perpetuate discrimination.
We can achieve REAL climate justice when…
- We work for solutions/policies that don’t exacerbate another area of the overall ecological crisis OR existing social inequities
- Grassroots and frontline communities have leadership in shaping local and global approach to climate injustice and social/ecological solutions, and our Climate Justice Movement strategies are informed by community priorities
- Our action approach to climate justice is radical – our actions support local social & environmental justice struggles and bring capacity & visibility to local organizing efforts
